The Fish and Chippery was officially opened by the Mayor of Skegness, Coun Dick Edginton, at Southview Holiday Park on Burgh Road yesterday (Friday)

It’s the latest addition to the complex, which is now owned by Parkdean Resorts.

Chantelle Else, complex manager, said: “We are delighted our fish and chip shop is now open. It will give our visitors another option for food on site because before this we just had the Boathouse restaurant.

“We are very pleased with what we have achieved and will be cooking fresh fish and chipped potatoes and our own mushy peas.

“The shop has created eight new jobs and will be open to members of the public coming on site.”

Coun Edginton got to taste some of the first fish out of the pans.

He said: “Skegness has a strong tradition of fish and chips and this is yet another facility on an important holiday park.

“The fish and chips are very good and can be enjoyed by holidaymakers and residents.”

Parkdean Resorts is marking English Tourism Week by highlighting more job opportunities.

Special recruitment events are taking place at Southview Holiday Park on Thursday from 10am to 5pm, where attendees can learn more about the positions on offer ahead of the 2017 season.

Parkdean Resorts’ chief executive John Waterworth said: “We are incredibly proud to be a careers champion within the tourism and hospitality industry, ensuring that all of our people from seasonal roles to management are given the support and opportunities they deserve.

“Many of those that were with us in the early days are still with us now. A lot of them started quite young and we gave them opportunities to manage holiday parks or join the leadership team.

“We need to do more to encourage young people into the industry. Our recruitment days in conjunction with English Tourism Week are another great way to get the message out there about Parkdean Resorts and what it has to offer potential new team members, and we look forward to meeting as many of them as possible.”
