A new project supporting separated and separating parents is being launched by Home-Start East Lindsey.
‘Splitting Up? Put Kids First’ aims to provide parents with online help and support at an early stage of separation, helping to secure better outcomes for children involved.
‘Splitting Up? Put Kids First’ is funded by the Department of Work and Pensions Innovation Fund and Home-Start is collaborating with OnePlusOne and the Family Matters Institute. Home-Start East Lindsey is one of eight local Home-Starts across the UK piloting this early intervention tool for parents that have separated, or are in the process of separating.
“Our volunteers will receive special training to use a new, free, online tool that has been developed by OnePlusOne,” explains Tracey Ruddock, Home-Start East Lindsey manager.
“They will identify and support parents across the district who would benefit from using it but are unlikely to access it independently. Reasons for this could include low confidence or self esteem, limited IT skills or not having access to a computer, or simply not knowing that it is available.”
