Staff at the Embassy Swimming Pool in Skegness are making waves by promoting a national campaign to prevent drowning.
Using activities and resources provided by the Royal Lifesaving Society UK –the UK’s drowning prevention charity– the Embassy Pool, run by Magna Vitae Trust for Leisure and Culture, will be running a rookie in-house gala and free taster swim lessons in support of Drowning Prevention Week.
The Rookie event will take place at 5.30pm on Friday, June 26. The swimming lessons will take place from 10.30 on Saturday, June 27.
Drowning Prevention Week, run by the Royal Life Saving Society UK, aims to ensure people know how to stay safe near water.
Christine Malpas, operations manager at the pool, said: “Shockingly, drowning is the third highest cause of accidental death in children in the UK. We are happy to support RLSS UK to reduce these numbers.”
