A healthy living initiative has been launched in Skegness and Wainfleet to help tackle the rising levels of childhood obesity.
East Lindsey District Council, Children’s Links and the NHS are aiming to teach families in deprived areas how to be healthier.
The council’s senior health officer David Clark said: “It is more important than ever that we help families to better understand real basics when it comes to exercise and nutrition, and also the reasons why everyone needs to stay active and eat fruit and veg.”
The Fit Kids and Super Kids project offers a 10 week course aimed at families with children aged four to 12, who are asked to attend physical activity sessions twice a week, while parents learn about nutrition.
