Kidney health highlighted
Kidney Research UK’s Skegness fundraising group released balloons from the end of Skegness Pier on Thursday to mark World Kidney Day.
The event was held to raise awareness of the charity and kidney diseases in general.
The Skegness group, which boasts 12 members, raised over £2,000 for the charity last year - 50 per cent of which stays within the local area for use providing dialysis and other treatments.
The remaining money is used nationally to help fund advice services for those with kidney conditions and to help provide improvements in treatment.
Lyn Clarke (the Skegness secretary), said that the group regularly holds local fundraising events such as stalls, tombolas and coffee mornings to generate cash for the life-saving charity.
Their next local event will be a coffee morning in the near future, although a date for this has yet to be finalised.
