Volunteers are needed to support Health Walks in Skegness and the surrounding areas.

Despite 120 volunteers supporting 70 regular Health Walks each week across Lincolnshire, more volunteers are needed to meet the demand of almost 3,000 regular weekly walkers.

Health Walks are free organised walks in towns, villages and rural areas, led by volunteer walk leaders. Walks are suitable for beginners and welcome new members at any time.

They take place at various times of the day, throughout Lincolnshire.

There are two organised walks in Skegness and Wainfleet All Saints which take place every Tuesday and Friday.

Walking groups meet at various locations in Skegness every Tuesday at 10am for a 2-3 mile walk, and at Bateman’s Brewery in Wainfleet every Friday at 10am for a 2-3 mile walk.

Sarah Clarke, Physical Activity Manager at Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, said: “Health Walks continue to be popular, attracting people from all walks of life. Participants learn more about the local area; enjoy fresh air and look forward to seeing friends and meeting new people. Often there is a café visit at the end of the walk and lots of groups have formed close friendships and socialise after the walk has ended.”

To become a walk leader individuals will attend a one-day training session. For details call Health Walk Coordinator, Tracey Richardson, on 01507 613 446.
