Health workers have urged Lincolnshire residents who take ill this winter to think carefully about which health service they use. Up to a quarter of all people using A&E departments could have been self treated or used an alternative service, sparing the hospital’s busiest wards of unnecessary procedures.
Anyone who is unsure of the best course of action should ring 111 first.
