BLOOD donors in Skegness are being asked to help keep blood stocks healthy as we get back on track following the recent bad weather.
The move comes ahead of the latest blood donor session in the town.
The main hall in the Embassy Centre will be play host to the event on Tuesday from 1.30pm to 4pm and 5pm to 8pm.
Many sessions were cancelled when the NHS was hit by the snow and ice over Christmas and into the New Year, which meant there was a dip in blood collections.
Thankfully, the generosity of donors over the festive period meant that there was enough blood to meet hospital demands.
But NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is urging donors to help save and improve the lives of those in desperate need of blood.
Holly Mason from NHS Blood and Transplant said; “Blood stocks were affected over December and January and we want to get levels back to normal as quickly as possible.
“We thank all donors for their continuing generosity and appeal to those who have ever thought about becoming a donor – there’s no better time than now.”
If you would like to become a donor and are aged between 17 and 65, generally in good health and weigh more than 7st 12lbs, call 0300 123 23 23 now to register or visit www.blood.co.uk
