A HEALTH walks programme for people in the area who take little or no exercise has been awarded a prestigious national accreditation.
East Lindsey Active has been recognised by Walking for Health.
Launched by East Lindsey District Council four years ago, the initiative is a programme of walks and Nordic hikes that takes place across the area.
Generally between one and three miles in length, there is a walk to suit everyone and they’re free of charge and led by experienced walk leaders. The new accreditation recognises that the walks are well organised and professionally run.
Scheme co-ordinator, Tracey Richardson, said: “The walks are great way to keep fit.
“Walking is such a great way to explore your local area and improve your health at the same time.
“We launched the walks to encourage more people in our area to be active and many people now take part regularly.
“As well as exploring the Wolds and the coast, the walks also give people a chance to make new friends,” she added.
The council will be launching a new East Lindsey Active programme of walks and Nordic walks in the coming weeks.
