A delicious gourmet meal was recently served up by successful chefs who have just completed a specialist course run in joint partnership with a Skegness college and Job Centre Plus.

The chefs, who have completed level one and two, treated the senior management team of Lincolnshire Regional College and Job Centre Plus to a four-course meal recently to show off their finely tuned skills.

The training allowed the learners to acquire further skills in an area of hospitality, one of Skegness’s most thriving industries, to allow them to gain more advanced employment in the workplace and also for the whole year round rather than just the summer season.

Karen Alldread, Job Centre manager at Skegness, who initiated the project with support of the college, said she was ‘really proud’ with the chef course, and added that it would help the applicants to gain better employment, and not just in the summer.

The course seeks to improve employability and is funded for each applicant through Job Centre Plus, providing chef whites and a set of knives for the duration.

The group of learners, who were previously unemployed, have now successfully gained employment.
