Skegness Golf Centre hosted their first major charity golf day on Saturday, October 11.

In aid of Dementia Friends and The Alzheimer’s Society a total of 13 teams played on the day which was run by club member Chris Christopher and PGA Golf Professional, Nikki Chantry.

“Chris asked me at the start of the season if we could run a golf day for Dementia Friends as his wife has been suffering with the illness for over five years and he wanted to build up awareness and funds for this amazing charity.

We were more than happy to help,”said Nikki.

The format of the competition was a four man Texas Scramble and a total of £350 was raised through both entries and a raffle on the day and other very kind donations.

Winners of the event were Mark Hudson, Richard Hudson, Duran Reynolds and Alex Harris.

In second place was Martin Tobin, Dave Codd, Ron Sheen and Darryl Webb and in third, Ellis Balding, Marty Lee, Craig ‘Wink’ Whiley & Shaun ‘Tyke’ Drury.

The golf centre will be looking to expand the competition next year.
