The Skegness and Spilsby Standard had the privilege of joining the Skegness RNLI yesterday evening (Tuesday, April 21) as they embarked on their fortnightly training operation.

The voluntary crew are preparing themselves for another holiday season in Skegness and will safeguard the sea and coastlines of other neighbouring shorelines and seaside resorts.

Skegness Standard reporter Lee Croft climbed aboard the Skegness lifeboats main vessel, the Mersey-Class all-weather lifeboat, called Lincolnshire Poacher (ON 1166) with eight other crew members; who were joined by three of the team on the inshore D-class lifeboat Peterborough Beer Festival IV.
