A ‘race night’ was held recently in the Seaview Pub on North Parade in aid of three of the mayor of Skegness’ chosen charities.

Members of the public and local councillors looked to find horses in form as they cheered potential winners home on a big screen, placing bets for real money, with funds from the races, raffles and auctions all going to the three charities the Mayor and Mayoress Julie Saxon have chosen to support during their year in office.

The enjoyable night was capped with the fundraiser raising a sum of £520, split between Keith’s Rescue Dogs, Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

Skegness Mayor Coun George Saxon said: “It was a fantastic night all round and I’d like to thank everyone who came to support it, in particular all the sponsors for each of the eight races, which were made up of local businesses who were all very generous. Thank you also to Mark and Louise at the Seaview Pub for their hospitality on the night and the guys conducting the races and the betting.

“A massive thank you also to Tina Purfield for making and creating the hampers given out for raffle prizes, the place was packed and it was extremely pleasing to have once again been given so much support by the local community”.
