Christmas shoppers in Skegness will be able to enjoy free parking during the town’s late night shopping season.
The Hildreds Centre management and East Lindsey District Council have announced the Lawn Car Park, also known as the Hildreds Car Park, will be free after 6pm on each Thursday from November 29 to December 20.
Hildreds Centre manager Pete Roffe hopes the offer will encourage local people to use the town centre for their Christmas shopping.
He said: “The provision of free parking by the centre and the local council for the festive period is brilliant news for shoppers and retailers.”
ELDC, which manages the car park on a revenue split with the Hildreds Centre, has carried out a car parking review which recommends implementing free parking after 6pm at all of its car parks.
ELDC’s portfolio holder for the environment, Coun Tony Bridges, who is also responsible for car parking, said he was pleased the free offer had been agreed, which he hopes will aid businesses during the difficult economic times.
