Flowers ‘at risk’

HANGING basket flower displays on Lumley Road, Skegness, cannot survive the current hosepipe ban, the town’s clerk has told councillors.

Discussing the issue at a Skegness Town Council business and resources meeting on Wednesday, Steve Larner said that although he was ‘pretty happy’ with the flower beds on Castelton Boulevard, Lumley Road’s hanging baskets could not survive without watering.

Mayor of Skegness Coun Mark Anderson suggested harvesting ‘grey water’ to continue watering during Anglian Water’s imposed hosepipe ban.

However, Mr Larner felt that transferring water into a bowser would cost the council’s handyman a ‘considerable amount of time’ which he did not have.
