A ‘flood alert’ has been issued by the Environment Agency for the areas near the tidal River Witham, the Haven, and the Wash frontages for tomorrow (Saturday) evening.

The alert states that flooding could be possible following forecast high water at 6.43pm and says that low lying coastal land and roads would be affected first,

It says: “We are expecting high tidal levels in Boston over the weekend particularly on Saturday evening. There may be some seepage behind defences causing localised pooling of water.

“However, we are only expecting this to cause minor issues. We will continue to monitor the situation.”

A flood alert is not as high priority as a warning however, the EA does advise keeping an eye on local water levels and weather conditions.

Farmers are advised to consider moving livestock and equipment away from areas likely to flood.

Residents are also advised to be prepared to take steps to protect family, pets and property.
