Facebook reports of attempted child abduction in Ingoldmells were not referred to police

Reports of an attempted child abduction from Fantasy Island Market have not been referred to any official authorities, despite being shared more than 6,000 times over Facebook.

A status posted on Monday evening claimed that a man had grabbed a five-year-old at the market but had been deterred once the child’s sister ‘decked’ him.

Although the status has been shared more than 6,000 times, neither Lincolnshire Police, nor Fantasy Island has been made aware of the attempted abduction.

A resort spokesperson said that Fantasy Island has a ‘great record’ for safety with no one having ever gone missing from the site.

“If anyone does see any suspicious behaviour please report it to the security team,” they added.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police also confirmed there had been no reports of the alleged abduction, which they thought was probably ‘just one of those rumours’.

They also urged anyone who does witness an attempted abduction or any other crime to report it immediately.
