Emergency teams are joining forces in Skegness tomorrow (Saturday) in a bid to to reduce the number of deaths and seriously injured on our roads.
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue and Skegness Neighbourhood Policing Team are hosting a Road Safety Event on Skegness seafront – and raising money for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
PCSO Michelle Collins said: “We wanted reduce the number of deaths and seriously injured on our roads.
“Last year there were 39 fatalities and to date we are up to 29. There has also been an increase in motorcycle fatalities by 30 per cent and a significant increase of fatalities on pedal cycles.
“We attend road accidents together to we thought why not hold an event together to help prevent them happening.”
Local businesses supporting the event include Bush tyres, offering advice on tyre safety, supported by Bridgestone. Halfords will be advising on appropriate child restraints and conducting free health checks on pedal cycles. The Road Safety Partnership will also and an advanced driving instructor will give advice to young drivers. The event starts at 10am to 3pm.
