Well fly-tipper fined £6,000

A FLYTIPPER and business responsible for dumping a kitchen on the roadside in Well near Alford, have been fined a total of £6,000 by Magistrates.

East Lindsey District Council took action against Mr Marshall and Marshalls Removals and Clearance Limited, owned by Mr Marshall, following a tip off from a witness who spotted the waste being dumped on July 10, 2011.

Appearing before a Skegness Magistrate on June 13, Mr Marshall of Fuller Street, Cleethorpes, pleaded not guilty. Magistrates decided Mr Marshall was guilty and fined find him £1000 and ordered him to pay £1500 costs.

Marshall’s Removals and Clearance Limited of Fuller Street, Cleethorpe was also fined £2000 and told to pay £1575.42 costs for the offence.

Portfolio Holder for Street Scene at ELDC, Coun Steve Newton, said: “Flytipping is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in East Lindsey.

“We will take action against anyone caught fly-tipping and the outcome of this case sends a strong message to those who do flytip that if caught it’ll be costly!”

ELDC spends around £2m each year on cleansing and grounds maintenance.

Enforcement Officer at the Council, Kristina West, said: “Anyone with information on flytips should contact the Council so we can bring those responsible to justice. East Lindsey is a beautiful District and no-one should be allowed to spoil that.”
