AN open day at a popular nature reserve west of Spilsby has been hailed a success after families from across the area braved light drizzle to enjoy a whole host of activities.
The Snipe Dales reserve held the open day on Sunday. Families who made the journey out to the unspoilt wetland valley system enjoyed everything from min-beast hunts and guided walks to a chance to make their own den shelters out of natural materials.
Site warden James Forrester said: “It went well and people enjoyed it even though the weather wasn’t really with us.
“There was a pretty good turnout of families and regulars who use the site, plus a few more who came especially after reading about it in the paper.”
During the event refreshments, cakes, plants and Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust goods were sold.
Proceeds from the day went towards the Trust, which runs the reserve.
