THE Gibraltar Point nature reserve celebrated the country’s wide variety of apples and orchards when it joined in with the annual Apple Day festivities on Saturday, October 22
Visitors were able to enjoy apple bobbing, buy apple-based foods to take home and learn more about the many apples that grow in the UK.
The free event also gave the public the chance to quiz experts about the identity of apples growing in their own back gardens.
There were also homemade jams and chutneys, and apple crumbles.
The visitor centre’s Point Café also served a range of apple-inspired specials. Other attractions included tips on how to grow apples from expert Trevor Rogers and the chance to sample apples from the Gibraltar Point orchard.
