Work on a large new £200,000 sewer in Stickney designed to protect homes from flooding will begin next week, Anglian Water has announced.
The pipe will be installed in Horbling Lane. The road will be shut between number 52 and Horbling House with a diversion in place until December 23.
John Clare from Anglian Water said: “There has been a history of problems in Horbling Lane. Heavy rainfall can overwhelm the sewer and cause flooding to homes sitting at a low point in the road.
“To solve the problem we are putting in a much bigger pipe that will be large enough to store storm water until it can be safely taken away.”
The diversion will take people via Main Road (A16), Station Road (B1184), Hobhole Bank and Midville Road before re-joining Horbling Lane.
John added: “We know the road closure is going to cause disruption for people and we’re sorry. We’ll do our best to finish as quickly as possible.
“Hopefully people will think that protecting people in Horbling Lane from the threat of sewer flooding is worth the temporary inconvenience.”
