Students from King Edward VI Academy, Spilsby got to take a look behind the scenes at the Tong Peal Engineering factory in the town.
The Year 11 students, who study resistant materials, were taken in groups around key areas of the facility. The tour covered the cutting edge C.A.D department where bespoke agricultural machinery is designed, through to the fabricating, machining, welding and assembly areas where they were given demonstrations of some of the work that takes place.
The school’s press officer Parissa Ghaznavi said: “The factory is surprisingly big and few people realise just what a major local employer they are. The range of skills displayed by employees at Tong Peal were simply stunning and their constant investment in staff training, new equipment and cutting edge research and development were especially impressive.
“In addition, Tong Peal Engineering has kindly sponsored the academy’s welding department by providing the necessary gas for which we thank them greatly.”
