The hard work and continued dedication by a school towards an important cause, which helps brings smiles to poor children at Christmas, was rewarded with a cheque last week.
Pupils, staff and parents of Great Steeping Primary School filled over 100boxes for The Rotary Club’s Christmas shoebox appeal, something they have done for more than five years.
Representatives of The Rotary Club came down to the school last Wednesday, March 6, to present a cheque for £150 to go towards something fun for the children and to thank them for their help during their Christmas concert.
Another cheque for one £100 was also presented to allow the children to work out how they can double it for a good cause.
“The children will work out how they can double it in small business groups and it will go to a charity,” said Alison Akcrill, headteacher.
Last year the school was presented with a certificate and t-shirts by the the Rotary to honour it as a Rotakids club, sponsored by the charity.
