A VIRTUAL bike ride the length of the Great Wall of China has been completed by primary school pupils as part of an incentive to get more of them biking to school.
Pupils from Halton Holegate Primary School, along with children from 16 other schools in the county entered the competition organised by Lincolnshire County Council.
The Big Bike Race is a web-based competition in which schools earn points for the number of pupils biking to school.
Every point they earn tallies with virtual miles for their journey along the Great Wall of China.
Executive councillor for children’s services Coun Patricia Bradwell said: “Big Bike Race is a fantastic way to get more children and parents on their bikes on the journey to school.
“Not only are they getting more exercise, learning to cycle safely and reducing the congestion outside school, but they are also learning about the Great Wall of China.”
