John Spendluffe students in Alford get into Comic Relief spirit

Students at the John Spendluffe Technology College in Alford did their bit for Red Nose Day this week with two events for Comic relief.
A total of £803 was raised.
One of the activities saw the college hokld a staff Bake Off, which saw competitors produce either a traditional Victoria Sandwich cake, a Victoria Sandwich filled and decorated the most comically, or a Victoria Sandwich made into the most creative shape.
The competition was judged by Rev. Ros Latham, Mrs Fairburn – Rolling Scones WI, Mrs Shorrock, Mrs Forman and Ms Kirk
“The judges were extremely impressed with all the entries and the cakes were then sliced up and sold to raise more money for comic Relief,” said a spokesperson.
The winning cakes were Miss Myers (traditional), Mrs Paice (with a jelly bear creation) and Lynsey Powrie (with a woman in bath of baked beans.
The other event at the college was a non-uniform day. Each of th e27 tutor group salso had an activity or cake stall.
