Grammar School academy status

PARENTS and staff affiliated with Skegness Grammar School have been asked to give their views on whether or not it should take on academy status.

The consultation will last until September when the governors will make a decision on the matter.

Schools embarking on the transition will no longer be under the jurisdiction of the Local Educational Authority and will receive their funding directly from central government.

Following a push from the education secretary Michael Gove many schools throughout the country are considering whether to become an academy.

This week it was announced that four local primary schools are also considering the decision - though there have been some concerns about the lever of consultation being provided. (see page three)
