Last Tuesday Richmond School hosted their sports day and were joined by former pupil Tom Jarvis

Staff at Richmond School were delighted to have Tom come back to the school, and headteacher Mrs Wellsted asked Tom to award the trophy at Key Stage 2 sports day.

Mrs Wellsted describes Tom as: “a fantastic role model for our children.”

Richmond School have a table tennis club before school in the morning with coach and teaching assistant Mrs Jean Taylor.

The school view Tom as an excellent example of what a student can achieve with determination and are very proud of how far he has come.

Tom attended his first ever table tennis club when he was in Year 2 at Richmond School.

He told the school: “he enjoyed the club from his first lesson and that the enthusiasm for the sport, that Mrs Taylor gave him, has changed his life.”

Richmond School sports day champions were Holland and the school said: “We are very proud of the excellent sportsmanship, displayed by all of the children.”

Tom travels to Rio on July 26 and has the support of the Richmond School well and truly behind him.
