Gareth Keeler is all set for life in the fast lane after winning a prestigious place at the National College for Motorsport.
Gareth, who completed his GCSEs at Skegness Grammar School this summer, is a student at the college, based at the world famous Silverstone Circuit.
He was offered a place on the course in February after attending an interview at the college in Northamptonshire.
The college offers race technician training through courses and apprenticeship programmes.
The two year course is college based until February and then students are expected to be placed with a race team in any discipline of motorsport including F1, rallying and touring cars. Students continue to be supported by the college within the placement for the remainder of their course.
Gareth is hoping to secure a work placement with Skegness based Mark Burdett Motorsport.
A life-long motorsport fan, Gareth is a regular stockcar spectator at Skegness Stadium and attended races in Holland and Belgium.
He said: “We are working on Formula Renault and touring cars and the course is a combination of educational and practical, classroom and workshop.
“My ambition is to work in F1, working my way through smaller teams and different forms of motorsport.”
Gareth’s dad Anthony is a big motorsport fan and older brother Simon, 19, has a pilot’s licence.
Proud mum Amanda said: “I have a big birthday coming up and am dreaming of a trip to the Monaco Grand Prix. Simon will fly me there and Gareth will be working at the race.”
