A LEVEL RESULTS: Stars of Skegness Academy ready for challenges ahead

The curtain is about to raise on the next chapter of their education for successful A-Level and AS students at Skegness Academy - including a leading lady who wowed audiences in their production of Annie Junior. '¨Danielle Harrison-Luscombe was celebrating two Distinction* in Performing Arts, a B in media studies and C in AS sociology this morning.'¨The 18-year-old from Skegness said: 'It's been extremely hard work but I'm really pleased. I love performing and one day I want to join a travelling theatre.''¨Danielle was just one of the stars of the day. Thed academy was celebrating the sixth consecutive year in which students have maintained a perfect 100 per cent pass rate for A-level or equivalent.

Among the others who have particular cause to celebrate are Vlad Brebeanu who has achieved an A* in Mathematics, an A in Statistics, an A in Further Mathematics plus a B in Physics and is going to study mathematics at the University of Bath. 
Vlad, from Boston, said: “I’ve been quite nervous about today and it’s all been quite emotional. The teachers have been great and I have them to thank for helping me achieve what I have.”

Courtney Maxwell, of Skegness – who achieved an A in Sociology, a double Distinction* in Business Studies plus a Distinction* in Law and is going to study International Business Management with a year abroad at the University of Sheffield. She said: “I love the subject because it gives me the opportunity to travel and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Other stars of the day were Sophie Harrison, who achieved a C in Psychology, an A in Geography plus a B in Sociology and is going to study Social Psychology at the University of East Anglia;  Robert Aspey who achieved a C in Mathematics, a B in Statistics plus a B in AS level Further Mathematics and is going to study Mathematics at the University of Liverpool;  Buju Heaton Adgebile who achieved an A in Mathematics, an A in AS level Further Mathematics plus an A in Statistics and is going to study Financial Maths at the University of Loughborough;  Kyle Staley who achieved a C in Biology plus a C in Chemistry is going to study Biochemistry at the Sheffield Hallam University; Ben Rowlinson who achieved a C in AS level Biology, a C in AS level Chemistry, a B in AS level Physics and a B in AS level Mathematics; Rebecca Clarkson who achieved a distinction and a distinction * in Business Studies, a distinction* in Health and Social Care, a distinction* in ICT and a distinction* in Law; Jack Cookson who achieved a distinction and a distinction* in Business Studies and a double distinction* in ICT; and Callum Hutchinson who achieved a double distinction* in Business Studies and a double distinction* in ICT.

Overall, 87 per cent of students achieved the minimum standard in academic subjects, 96 per cent achieved the minimum standard in Vocational subjects and 55 per cent of students achieved a grade C or above, which is a 25 per cent increase on the results achieved in 2015.

Ben Pearce, Acting Principal, said: “These are a fantastic set of results, which we are incredibly proud of. Well done to Lara Oldfield and her team for a sixth consecutively great year. The Skegness Academy wants to wish all of our leavers the best for their future.”
