It was the first day at school for children and staff with the opening of The Beacon Primary Academy in Skegness.

Everyone was getting used to their new surroundings at the school, which is sponsored by the Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust.

The school has a temporary home next to Skegness Academy and in January will move into a purpose-built building on Churchill Avenue.

The current intake of 53 pupils in Reception and Year 1 will expand up to 210 from ages three to 11. Parents were invited to a party at the school on Monday to celebrate the first full day of teaching. Principal Corinna Wright said: “Everybody knows are expectations are high. We are working together to make sure we give the children the very best.
