Hundreds of school children have taked part in a Broadway musical spectacular at the Embassy Theatre, Skegness.

Five academies sponsored by the Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust hosted the showcase last week.

Four newly rebranded primary Academies, sponsored by GDFT, opened their doors to children and staff this term - including Ingoldmells Academy, Skegness Infant Academy, Skegness Junior Academy and Mablethorpe Primary Academy.

Each has joined with Skegness Academy to form the ‘East Coast Excellence Cluster’.

And ‘Broadway by the Beach’ featured performances from all of the pupils, using musicals as the theme, which incorporated dance, drama, musical percussion and singing.

Schools performed music from The Wizard of Oz and Stomp, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Bollywood, Mary Poppins, Bugsy Malone.

A soloist from Skegness Academy sang ‘Defying Gravity’ from Wicked, and dance students performed to ‘All that jazz’ from Chicago.

All five academies also joined together to perform ‘There’s no business like show business’ from Annie Get Your Gun, a medley of songs from Mamma Mia and ‘Circle of Life’ from The Lion King.
