A CHARITABLE open garden event, held at East Keal helped raised funds for Lincs Ark, which is a Boston-based animal welfare charity.

Around £1,900 was raised through the garden event which was held for the first time at Windrush, East Keal recently.

Jacqueline Mitchell, volunteer for Lincs Ark, said: “Over 250 people arrived at the event and the funds raised will give the charity a good boost.

“We also had an unexpected surprise when a visitor’s husband flew by in a Spitfire returning from an event and did a double fly-by.”

The weather didn’t dampen the day and charity stalls, plants and a tombola went down a treat.

Lincs Ark Animal Welfare, was founded in December 2002 by a group of animal lovers from Boston and the Lincolnshire area.
