A Mountain Ash has been planted at WI House in Horncastle’s Banks Street to round off a year of national centenary celebrations.

Digging in on the day was the first chairman of Lincolnshire North Federation (1977 to 1980)Betty Harvey and the current chairman Chris Morgan.

The Federation moved their headquarters to Horncastle from Louth in October last year, giving them a more central location, and since then they have been renovating the former Kingdom Hall.

“We have done an awful lot since we moved here and the garden is next on our list, so the tree is a fantastic start” said Mrs Morgan. “We are also installing a disabled toilet and are very grateful to District Councillor Fiona Martin for the grant she has given of £750 towards this.”
