An intrepid team of cyclists are are set to tackle a 12 hour ride from Derby to Skegness on Saturday to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The team of five riders are due to depart around 6am on the 100 mile route and hope to arrive at Yates’s pub in the Embassy Centre around 6pm. The group will number about 20 in total including supporters.

It is the first time the group of friends have attempted something like this and will setting off from the Toby pub in Chad. Both pubs are supporting the team, with The Toby providing a send off breakfast.

Team member Paul Shore said: “Me and my mates spoke about raising money for charity last year but at first were undecided which charity. A good friend of ours and one of the lads has had a particularly bad year with one thing and another so we decided Macmillan would be the charity.”
