The 34-year-old Wainfleet woman who was arrested yesterday after reportedly firing pellets at primary school children has been released on police bail until September 12.

Police have forbidden the woman from entering Winthorpe, where pupils at Seathorne Primary School claim she shot at them with a BB gun after becoming angered by the sound of their playing.

A search of the Spirewic Avenue property neighbouring the school from where the pellets were allegedly fired has not discovered any weapons, imitation or otherwise.

Police are continuing to question the pupils who claim to have seen the gun being fired.

Some of the parents shocked by yesterday’s gun scare said they wouldn’t send their child to the school until problems with the neighbouring address had been dealt with.

However a police spokesperson has suggested any enforcement action against the neighbour may be difficult to pursue.

Although PCSOs had been called to the property in June, no evidence of any offence was discovered. And none of the official residents were accused of yesterday’s allegations.
