Two men and a boy have been arrested in connection with a ‘courier’ scam against an 80-year-old Ingoldmells woman.
A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said the victim was contacted by telephone from a man purporting to be an officer from the Metropolitan Police.
She was persuaded to hand over £6,000 to a ‘courier’ who came to her door to collect it.
She was later contacted again and told that someone would be visiting to collect a further amount of money.
A 16-year-old juvenile from Spilsby was subsequently arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation.
Later that day, two men from London were also arrested in connection with the incident.
The victim’s money has been recovered.
The three arrested suspects remain in Skegness Police Station being interviewed.
