Spilsby man fined for cannabis plants

WHEN police executed a search warrant at an address in Spilsby, they found cannabis plants growing in the loft, Skegness Magistrates’ Court heard last week.

Dean Brooker, 40, of Dennett Close, admitted cultivating cannabis plants and possession of cannabis at his home on July 7.

Paul Wood, prosecuting, said police found four mature plants and a small number of seedlings growing in a polythene tent in the loft. A small amount of cannabis was found in the kitchen. Brooker told police it was all for his own use.

In mitigation, Gordon Holt said it was clearly a domestic operation. He said Brooker suffered from a sleep disorder and he began using cannabis to help him with that.

The magistrates imposed a fine of £110 and ordered he pay a £15 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
