AN INCREASED number of caravan burglaries have taken place of the winter period, according to police figures.
Insp Terry Ball told Skegness Town councillors during a full council meeting, last Wednesday, that around 15-20 burglaries had taken place in one night at caravan sites in the UK.
He said opportunists were targeting caravan sheds and taking advantage of the quieter season.
He also highlighted the problem with metal theft and theft of religious artifacts and said the amount they were getting for it, in terms of value, was far less than the cost to repair the damage that the removal of metal caused.
He said it was ‘skewing’ crime figures and it was a ‘massive problem at the moment’.
