PCSO Dave Bunker, from Skegness Neighbourhood Policing Team, has completed two courses in the effective use of social media.
PCSO Bunker has spent the last year, during his off-duty time, studying with an online provider called Alison– Advanced Learning Interactive Systems Online and achieved a diploma in social media marketing and a certificate in ‘using Twitter for social networking’.
PCSO Bunker said: “The Skegness NPT have been embracing the use of social media for some time as a community engagement tool and we are developing its use in order to raise the visibility of the team, improve accessibility to local officers, and as a medium for publicising appeals for information and crime prevention messages.
“I firmly believe that the use of social media in policing delivers great benefits and that its use as a means for us to engage with our communities will become increasingly important in the future, as more members of the public adopt it as their primary form of communication and means of keeping up with local news. I’m delighted to have passed my assessments and look forward to applying my new skills.”
