Skegness passenger wanted after ‘terrifying attack’ on train conductor

British Transport Police officers are appealing for witnesses after a train conductor was assaulted while assisting a drunk passenger at Boston’s station.

The incident took place on the 8.15pm East Midlands Trains service from Skegness to Nottingham on Saturday, February 16.

The conductor saw a drunk woman board the train at Skegness.

As the train pulled into Boston the woman got up to leave the train.

Due to her intoxicated state and worried for her safety, the conductor assisted her off the train and onto the platform.

The woman then attempted to get back on the train, before she became abusive to the conductor, swearing at him then punching and hitting him in the face.

The conductor managed to close the train doors and contacted police.

PC Jackie Wadey, the investigating officer, said: “When officers arrived the woman had already left the station.

“She has been described as in her late teens, approximately 5ft 8ins, and was wearing a distinctive Afghan-style coat with a fur hood.”

PC Wadey added: “This was a terrifying attack on a member of staff who was simply trying to do his job and help this lady.

“BTP take assaults on rail staff, whether verbal or physical, very seriously.

“I would like to appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who think they may know the female from the description provided, to contact us.”

Anyone with information should contact British Transport Police on Freefone 0800 40 50 40 quoting B12/NEA of 20/02/2013.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
