Two pupils at a village primary school near Spilsby have joined the ranks of Lincolnshire Police as Junior Police Cadet School Officers (JPCSOs).

Laura Sylvester and Hannah Morris, of Partney CofE Primary School, were recently elected into the role by their peers.

Lincolnshire Police’s JPCSO scheme is designed to enable local neighbourhood policing teams to get to know and work with youngsters of primary school age.

Together, they work through set tasks and explore ways of reducing crime, and community safety issues.

In all, seven pupils asked to be considered for the role, with each making a speech in front of the school about why they should get their vote.

Laura and Hannah will be working with Sgt Kate Odlin, of Lincolnshire Police, on several tasks during their year of office designed to help them learn about being a good citizen and how to keep safe in the home and on the
roads.

Their first task is to create a ‘listening box’ for pupils to highlight problems.
