Police slam quad bikers tearing around Skegness
POLICE in Skegness have slammed irresponsible motorcycle and quad bike riders after a spate of incidents around King George V Walk on Burgh Road and surrounding open spaces.
Lincolnshire Police has received a number of calls recently from concerned members of the public appalled at the way the riders have been tearing along footpaths.
And the force has warned the reckless riders that their vehicles will be seized if they persist with their illegal antics.
“Not only is this illegal and inconsiderate, but it is also dangerous to members of the public and to the riders themselves who are often unlicensed and uninsured,” said a police spokesperson.
“Any uninsured motor vehicle being ridden illegally on the public footpath may be seized and the rider reported for driving without insurance.
“The rider of any vehicle being ridden on land without lawful reason may be issued with a section 59 warning which will be on record for a year and if seen again riding in the same manner the vehicle will be seized,” they added.
