Police have praised the trouble free success of the New Year’s Eve festivities in Skegness.

Landlords in the town encouraged revellers to wear fancy dress for the event to help create a light hearted atmosphere. Speaking at last week’s Skegness Town Council meeting Inspector Andy Morrice said: “There were people from as far away as Durham saying how great the evening was and that they will be coming back. Organisers are looking at similar events for Halloween and Bonfire Night. The cells were empty in Skegness for New Year’s Eve.”

An ITV film crew accompanied trainee officers on the beat in the town during the night for a forthcoming documentary programme.
