Police firearms officers in Louth stand-off

Lincolnshire Police have confirmed that trained police negotiators and firearms officers are outside a house in Keddington Crescent, Louth.

This follows information received from a member of the man’s family just before midnight last night (Christmas Day).

“A 57-year-old man is in the house and threatening to harm himself with a knife and the negotiators are speaking to him with the aim of persuading him to come out of the house,” said a police spokesperson this morning (Wednesday).

“There is no one else in the house with the man.

“We apologise to people in the area who are being inconvenienced by the police presence but hope everyone understands our prime aim which is to ensure the man does not harm himself or anyone else and leaves the house peacefully.

“We will continue to talk to him for as long as necessary to achieve this aim.”
