THE MARINE Boathouse in Lumley Road, Skegness has been issued with an £80 Fixed Penalty Notice after it served alcohol to under-age police volunteers.
On Thursday, October 27, a test purchase operation was conducted by Police Licensing Dept officers in conjunction with Lincolnshire Trading Standards using 15 and 16-year-old volunteers.
Wolfies in South Parade and The Litten Tree in Grand Parade refused the sale and both asked for ID.
However, the Marine Boathouse has now sold twice to police volunteers in the past three months and therefore will now be subject to a review of the premises licence and, potentially, further criminal proceedings.
The premises where sales were refused will be informed by letter of having passed the test and will not be retested unless new information is received.
Sara Barry, Lincolnshire CC Head of Safer Communities, said: “It’s disappointing to see underage children purchasing alcohol when these businesses have been recently advised by Trading Standards and Lincolnshire Police. However we are pleased to see the other businesses refusing sales, demonstrating ‘No ID, no sale.”
Any business that requires information on how to prevent age restricted sales should call Trading Standards on 01522 782341 for advice.
