Man shot in the arm during robbery in village churchyard

A man was shot in the arm with an air rifle in a robbery in Benington.

The incident occurred at about 10.35pm on Tuesday, December 8, in the church grounds of All Saints Church on the Main Road in the village, between Bede Crescent and the A52.

A 27 year-old man was walking his dog when he was approached by an unknown male who demanded money from him before firing at him with an air weapon, causing a small injury to his arm. A wallet was stolen during the incident and later found discarded in the churchyard.

The suspect ran off towards the A52. He is described as being approx 6’ tall and wearing a dark puffa jacket and dark trousers.

PC Kerry Kinroy is appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at the time and saw the incident or a male running from the location.
