AN ALCOHOLIC caused £400 worth of damage during a row with his partner while he was drunk, during which he also assaulted her two young sons.
Matthew Paul Partridge, 46, now of Witham Lodge, Alexandra Road, Skegness, admitted damaging the property at an address in the Spilsby area, as well as assaulting the two boys, aged 10 and 11, on December 5 last year, when he appeared for sentence at Skegness Magistrates’ Court.
Prosecuting, Miss Marie Stace said the woman had known Partridge for four years and he had lived there for about three months at the time of the incident.
She said she and the boys had returned home and saw that Partridge had been drinking.
She said he began screaming and shouting at the two boys, slammed a door, damaging it, broke three glass panels in the porch and threw things at them.
In total he caused about £400 worth of damage. He also grabbed one of the boys by the throat and pushed the other one away when he tried to help his brother.
The three of them managed to run into the bathroom and lock themselves in until police arrived and Partridge was arrested.
In mitigation, Mr Dave Clapham said Partridge was a recovering alcoholic but was still drinking at the time of the offences.
He said Partridge was working with Addaction and had now gone 45 days without drinking alcohol.
The magistrates gave Partridge a 12 month community order with 12 months supervision and ordered he carry out 150 hours of unpaid work for the community.
He was also ordered to pay £400 in compensation for the damage he caused and £50 to each of the boys for the trauma they suffered. He was also ordered to pay £80 in court costs and a restraining order was made prohibiting him from communication with any of the injured parties or going to their home.
