Man dies before standing trial

A JUDGE has stopped legal proceedings against a man who was allegedly murdered in Skegness after a coroner confirmed his death.

31-year-old Peter Schruyers died in Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre after he was injured during an incident in Wainfleet Road, Skegness, on Wednesday, August 10.

Mr Schruyers, from Skegness, was due to stand trial at Lincoln Crown Court on unrelated charges of affray and obstructing a police officer.

But Judge Sean Morris halted the case after a copy of Mr Schruyers’ death certificate was produced during a hearing at Lincoln Crown Court.

21-year-old Jamie Rawson has been charged with Mr Schruyers’ murder and is due to appear before Lincoln Crown Court on 11 November.
