Linciolnshire Police has urged the public to beware after a hoax telephone caller tried to impersonate an officer and asked for money.
“This afternoon we have had a report from a member of public regarding a hoax call,” said a police spokesperson.
“The individual received a call from a person claiming to be a PCSO with Lincolnshire Police, and asked for money for advertising in a magazine.
“No police force would ever contact members of the public in order to ask for money. Please make sure you pass this message on to your friends and family.
“If you receive a call of this nature just terminate the call and do not engage with the individual, and never call them back as you may be charged for calling a premium line,” they added.
